The A.V.R.O. is a non-profitmaking
association whose purpose is to spread the aeronautics culture and the passion
for flight. Within the Club, sailflying, motorflying, making is been practised.
We cooperate with the civil defence for the
environmental protection.
Sailflying:
Rivoli di Osoppo is truly a paradise for
those who love sailflying; built-in the natural park of the Tagliamento and
wedged in the magic amphitheatre of the Julian and Carnic Prealps, it’s
populated by the real rulers of the sky: the birds. Here we can find the eagle,
the kite, the kestrel, the hawk but above all the griffin.
In fact, a couple of kilometres away from
the airfield, close to the Cornino lake, from a decade a project to
repopulate the nearby mountains of the Friulian piedmont has been given a start
thanks to this rapacious bird. The griffins are used to fly in thermic and
dynamics with the gliders, they look at us as friends and flying with them
happens quite frequently. We help each other, pointing out good areas where we
can fly just with out presence, and the sensations we get from flying together
are unique.
The geographic location of the
aviosuperficie of Rivoli di Osoppo allows us to set the flights towards the
valley or the piedmont getting close to the Alps moving to the east (Slovenia-
Bled-Karawanche airport), to the north (Austria- Notsch and Lienz, airport –
Gaital- Grossklochner) and to the west ( the Dolomites- Dobbiaco and Vipiteno
airport- Val Pusteria).
The mountain reliefs near the field, 5-8 km far, with heights that go from approximately 1100 to 1800 meters (Covria, Cuar, Quarnan and Chiampon mountains), permit great slope flights trainings, in a propaedeutics sort of
natural gym to the very difficult flights in the mountains.
That’s why Rivoli is most likely pointed
out for anyone who wants to get familiar with slope flights, not having this
opportunity at home.
To do some sailflying practise, the club has
arranged an available Twin Astir II G 103 Acro glider.
Motorflying:
Flying with a single-engine plane between
the valleys and the Carnic and Julian Alps peaks it’s quite a job that requires
good technique and experience, but it pays the fans back with the spectacular
view and leaves them with unforgettable feelings.
For those who prefer motorflying, the club
has arranges a 180 CV single-engine four-seater Roben plane, set with I.F.R.,
with which it is possible to undertake comfort medium haul flights.
The club has also an available micro light
single-engine Fly Syntesis “Storch 80HP ” equipped with a ballistic parachute, with a large
fenestration which makes it particularly suitable for video records and photo
reportages
